Located in the center of Ashland, Oregon on the Southern Oregon University Campus, the SOU Music Building is located at 450 S. Mountain Avenue.

About the Venue

The SOU Music Recital Hall is located inside the SOU Music Building and is an intimate hall, with upper and lower seating, including ground level wheelchair user accommodations. Built in 1972 with particular attention to acoustic quality, the Hall is one of the best choral acoustic venues in the Rogue Valley with a total audience seating capacity of 436 people. The Hall is also home to the 1974 Worth Harvey Pipe Organ built by Balcom and Vaughan to fulfill a desire for organ accompaniment for concerts.  The venue underwent major renovations in 2007 including new seating and flooring generously donated by Peter, Hazel, and Barbara Gertson.

The hall operates as part of the Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU and is the home of the Southern Oregon University Music Program’s ensembles and featured guest performers as well as many local musical organizations such as Chamber Music Concerts, Rogue Valley Symphony, the Tutunov Piano Series, and Southern Oregon Repertory Singers.

Free parking is available for all Southern Oregon Repertory Singers performances across the street from the SOU Music Building in the SOU Parking Lot #36.

Directions

FROM NORTHBOUND 1-5:

• Take exit 19, and go west on Valley View Rd.
• Turn left at the light onto Hwy 99, heading to downtown Ashland.
• Hwy 99 will become North Main. Continue on Main Street through downtown Ashland.
• Main Street will become Siskiyou Blvd at the end of downtown. Continue south on Siskiyou Blvd.
• Turn right on Mountain Ave (approximately 1 ½ miles from downtown Ashland).
• The SOU Music building is the third building on the left.

FROM SOUTHBOUND 1-5:

• Take exit 14, and go west on Hwy 66. Continue on 66 until it meets Siskiyou Blvd.
• Bear right onto Siskiyou Blvd.
• Continue on Siskiyou Blvd to Mountain Ave.
• Turn left onto Mountain Ave.
• The SOU Music building is the third building on the left.
